On the initiative of three athletes in the city--Francisco Raymundo Marques, Mário Ferraz de Campos and Argemiro de Souza Júnior--Santos Futebol Clube emerged. They extended invitations to all interested parties for participation in an inaugural meeting; this assembly constituted a new club with destiny directed towards football practice: a sport that was nascently developing within Brazil at the turn of last century.
On the afternoon of Sunday, April 14, 1912--at the headquarters of Concórdia Club situated in Rosario's old street, specifically 18 (presently Rua João Pessoa,8/10)--a historic meeting unfolded. All thirty-nine participants in this assembly are regarded as founding partners.
Edmundo Jorge de Araújo proposed the name for the entity on its foundation day: Santos Foot-Ball Club. The new association, presided over during its inaugural year by Sizino Patusca, chose blue and white as their uniform colors with golden threads interspersed.
Paulo Peluccio suggested the Club's colors transition to a white striped shirt with black shorts and shirt; this change was implemented on March 31 of the subsequent year. The Deliberative Council of the Club inaugurated its session on January 28, 1932—with Flaminius Levy serving as its first president.

Urbano Vilella Caldeira Filho— a man who devoted his entire life to the beloved team until his demise in 1933—gloriously enters the club's existence at its inception. An athlete, coach, and manager; Urbano stood as an embodiment of dedication not only for Santos Futebol Clube but also within Brazilian football. As recognition for his profound love towards Alvinegro Praiano—the stadium erected in 1916 bears His Honorific name: The Urbano Caldeira Stadium.
In 1913, the team achieved its first significant milestone: conquering the Santos championship. They repeated this feat in 1915; however, they played under a new nickname - "União Futebol Clube" - due to an imposition from São Paulo Association of Athletic Sports' board.
The 1927 team faced an unprecedented attack in the São Paulo championship, a feat that remains unsurpassed to this day. The average was staggering: 6.25 goals per match; thus, eternally earning them their title as the "Ataque of the 100 goals". This formidable offensive line comprised Omar, Shrimp, Spell--notable players for their exceptional scoring ability--alongside Araken and Evangelist.
The Club clinched its first Paulista Championship in 1935, securing the title at their opponent's home ground in São Paulo's capital. The team asserted dominance once more over the São Paulo events during 1955 and 1956; furthermore, with a young boy known as Pelé nestled within its ranks by 1958. In subsequent years, this prodigious talent would carve out a legacy as arguably - indeed many argue him to be - history's greatest football player of all time: an accolade that remains unchallenged even today.
The team from Santos, hailed as an icon of their city, dominated the football scene during the so-called "Golden Decade" in 1960s. They showcased a brand of football that earned global applause and delivered continuous triumphs not just within Brazilian territory but across continents. In 1962 - perhaps its grandest coronation – this revered Alvinegro claimed victory at all major events held that year; even winning Bicampal World Cup despite being marred by controversy over eligibility in subsequent years. Recognizing these achievements, FIFA bestowed upon them the prestigious title: "The Best Team of The Century in Americas."
Santos Futebol Clube currently holds the title of Brazil's legitimate Octo champion due to his national victories in 1961, 1965, and 1968 as well as notable wins during other years such as 2002 and 2004. The club boasts an impressive record with a total of twenty-two São Paulo championships under their belt; they also clinched three Copa Libertadores of America titles along with two Interclubs World Championships. Throughout its rich history spanning over a century, notable players including Araken Patusca, Antoninho, Pelé - to more recent ones like Robinho – Paulo Henrique Ganso and Neymar have all graced this team-earning it unwavering respect from Alvinegra fans worldwide.
